The joystick controller will either work as a control voltage source or a signal attenuator/inverter. Power is
externally applied +/-12v or +/-15v.
Control Voltage Source mode
The internal +/-5V voltage source is applied first to an attenautor (XMAX, YMAX), then to the joystick.
- In Bipolar mode, the X output varies from -XMAX to +XMAX and the Y from -YMAX to +YMAX (i.e., -5V to +5V),
where the end values are set by the XMAX and YMAX knobs.
- In Unipolar mode, the output vary from 0v to XMAX or YMAX.
Attenuator/Inverter Mode
Plugging a signal into the XIN or YIN inputs overrides the internal 5V voltage source. The XMAX and YMAX knobs set the
maximum amplitude, from zero to the amplitude of the applied input signal.
- In Unipolar (GND) mode, the joystick acts as a standard attenuator, where its position will vary the signal amplitude from
zero to XMAX/YMAX.
- In Bipolar mode, the output signal will vary from +XMAX/+YMAX at the positive joystick position, down to zero at the center
position, and then inverted up to -XMAX/-YMAX in the negative joystick position.
